I pretty much know what to expect from this series, but this one wasn't as "festive" as past Christmas tales in the series have been. There wasn't a lot of Christmas to it, except for the rehearsing for the Christmas Carol play. It was mostly more depressing stuff, people having their homes foreclosed on, losing jobs, desperately sick children. I agree with another reviewer in that I'm glad I didn't actually read this at Christmas since it's a bit of a depressing tale. Still a lot of your usual Lucy Stone fare, but not really conducive to the holiday spirit!
